What’s the trendiest colour palette for Autumn 2021? October 14, 2021

The most simple, yet effective way to create a sense of cosiness and warmth in your home, as the coldness of winter creeps in, is through the use of colour. Whether you decide to re-decorate a room, buy a new sofa, add some cushions and throws or getting creative with autumn decor, the colours you choose will make a big impact and prepare you for the longer, wintry nights. Traditionally, we look at the rich autumn colours of nature for inspiration and this year proves no different.

According to our research, the most popular colours this autumn will be shades of green which have brown undertones, including Olive Green and Sage Green. This earthy tone can be best used alongside warm neutrals such as warm sand, light grey and cream to create a classic interior or within a bold, colourful scheme, combined with pops of rusty orange, harvest yellow or pastel blue. The brown undertones found in these shades of green help bridge the gap between the seasons, while creating a comfortable, snug design perfect for a bedroom or lounge.

Another favoured colour palette which can be seen more in the Autumn months takes inspiration from the rich, autumn foliage, embracing the brilliant colours of yellow, orange, red and brown that evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. There’s nothing more like getting into the autumnal spirit than combining these warm colours with creams, some brown and a bit of ochre. With the shorter days edging in, theres no better time to light a few candles, layer up with a throw and some cushions and bring in a new rug!

For a more modern look, inspiration can also be drawn from the evergreen trees and shadows cast on dark October evenings. To create a luxurious look and feel, we have seen many interior schemes which make use of dark inky colours such as deep blues and emerald greens, these shades are balanced with pale neutrals. Similarly, deep, rich plum tones create the same effect and work well with burnt orange, lilac or teal.
